Suhe Creative Imprint
Background
Suzhou Creek has witnessed more than a century of Shanghai’s transformation. Its industrial heritage, riverside architecture, neighborhoods, and everyday stories form a unique cultural landscape embedded in the city.
As Shanghai continues to renew itself, how can these memories remain part of contemporary urban life?
Suzhou Creative explores this question through cultural research, design, creative products, exhibitions, and public events. We reinterpret the heritage of Suzhou Creek through a contemporary lens, transforming fragments of the past into new cultural experiences.

Creative Works
We developed Suhe Impressions, a cultural card set inspired by 10 historic protected buildings along Suzhou Creek, designed as promotional and interactive gifts for the Suzhou Creek cultural events.

Drawing inspiration from Shanghai’s distinctive urban heritage, the cards combine Art Deco architecture, Republican-era typography, and the visual language of Chinese traditional playing cards. Architectural forms, decorative details, and historical visual elements from the 14 buildings are carefully reinterpreted and integrated into the card designs, creating a contemporary visual collection rooted in the cultural character of Suzhou Creek.

Through this playful and collectible format, the project transforms architectural heritage from something static and distant into a cultural experience that can be carried, shared, and experienced. We hope to bring the history and visual identity of Suzhou Creek into everyday life while offering a new way to discover and appreciate the unique cultural character of Shanghai.
